The Relation between Incontinence-Associated Dermatitis and Pressure Ulcer

Abstract
Incontinence-associated dermatitis (IAD) is an inflammation of the skin associated with exposure to urine or stool. Also, pressure ulcer (PU) is well known that basic three causes of pressure ulcer: pressure, friction, shear. Recently, excessive moisture directly contributes to the risk of PU. Even though IAD influences on PU risk, it is sometimes confused with PU. Therefore, nursing intervention for IAD focused on care of PU in clinical setting. Ultimately we need to consider unique IAD care with recognizing difference between IAD and PU through this review introduces the relation and difference between IAD and PU.
